Extreme weather conditions on 22 July 2016: quality of drinking water in the places affected by the extreme weather conditions (situation at 2.50 p.m. on 27 July 2016)

Consumption of drinking water allowed

Further to the results of the latest analyses carried out at the water management authority's laboratory, use of the water for human consumption is once again allowed in the municipality of Reisdorf.

As already communicated on 26 July 2016, the consumption of water is allowed throughout the municipalities of Nommern and Larochette, as well as in Ermsdorf, Stegen, Eppeldorf and Folkendange. These results have been reconfirmed by the latest analyses carried out at the water management authority's laboratory.

Restrictions maintained

However, the restrictions on the consumption of drinking water must be maintained in

  • Medernach,
  • Savelborn
  • and Freckeisen,

where the water must be boiled for at least ten minutes before being used for human consumption.

Distribution of drinking water

The authorities are continuing their distribution of bottled water at the primary school in Medernach.

Water will continue to be distributed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

Unless indicated otherwise, these restrictions will continue to apply until 4 p.m. on Friday, 30 July, pending the results of further water quality analyses. The population will be informed by the relevant authorities as soon as the quality of the water returns to normal. Until then, drinking water will be provided by the Rescue Services Agency, the Army, and the respective municipal authorities.
