Extreme weather on 22 July 2016: quality of drinking water in the places affected by the extreme weather, at 4.45 p.m. on 25 July 2016

Consumption of drinking water allowed

Consumption of the water is once again allowed in the following municipalities:

  • Nommern
  • and Ermsdorf

where the quality of water is now back to normal, as evidenced by the latest analyses carried out at the water management authority's laboratory.

Restrictions maintained

However, the restrictive measures regarding the consumption of drinking water continue to apply in the municipalities of

  • Cruchten,
  • Oberglabach,
  • Niederglabach

in the isolated houses in

  • Scheierhaff
  • and Hemeschbaach

and in

  • Larochette
  • and Vallée de l’Ernz (except in Ermsdorf, as already explained).

Ban on the consumption of drinking water

Until further notice, human consumption of water is not allowed in the municipality of Reisdorf, except for sanitary purposes.

Distribution of drinking water

The authorities are continuing their distribution of bottled water at the fire and rescue centres in Cruchten, Larochette and Reisdorf and at the school (note that the place has changed) in Medernach. The distribution of bottled water is now no longer necessary in Ermsdorf. Water will be distributed every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

Unless indicated otherwise, these restrictive measures will apply until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 27 July, pending the results of the further water quality analyses being carried out. The population will be informed by the relevant authorities as soon as the quality of the water returns to normal. Until then, drinking water will be provided by the Rescue Services Agency, the Army, and the respective municipal authorities.
