Test of the national alert system: unannounced test of zonal alert SMS messages (22.03.2024)

An unannounced test of the zonal SMS alert took place on Wednesday 28 February 2024 in the municipalities of Differdange, Pétange, Käerjeng, Sanem, Bourscheid, Tandel, Diekirch, Erpeldange-sur-Sûre, Ettelbruck, Schieren, Colmar-Berg and Bettendorf.

As a reminder, the zonal SMS alert tests are not communicated in advance, which allows mobile network operators to be put in a real-life situation when faced with an event that triggers an imminent and spontaneous alert of the population.

It is important to note that only people whose mobile phones were connected to a mobile phone base station in the above-mentioned zone at the time the alert was issued received the following SMS: "LU-ALERT / ALERTE TEST / NO ACTION REQUIRED / AUCUNE ACTION REQUIRED / KEINE HANDLUNG ERFORDERLICH".

Further information and FAQs are available on the following website: National warning system: LU-Alert.
