Heat warning – Red alert level issued for Wednesday, 2 July 2025 (01.07.2025)

The Weather Risk Assessment Unit (CERI) met late this morning to analyse the weather forecast issued by MeteoLux for 2 July. According to forecasts, a red alert is expected between 12:00 and 20:00 in the south of the country and urban areas, due to maximum temperatures likely to reach between 35 and 38 degrees.

With the move to a higher alert level, the CERI is providing information on the advice of behaviour:

  • Drink lots of water throughout the day (min. 1.5 l water per day);
  • Avoid going outside (prolonged and direct exposure to sunlight) during the hottest time of day (11 am to 9 pm);
  • Close blinds, curtains and windows during the day and open them at night;
  • Cover your head if you go outside;
  • Wear light clothing;
  • Limit physical activity;
  • Use fans or air conditioning to cool yourself down;
  • Try to stay in a cool or air-conditioned place (large shops, cinemas, etc.);
  • Cool down with water several times a day (mister, shower, etc.);
  • Maintain contact with vulnerable members of your family and friends. Help them get to a cool place.

The CERI will meet again on the morning of 2 July to assess the situation and provide further information as developments unfold.
