Working visit of the new Director-General of DG HERA to the National Crisis Centre in Senningen (02/07/2025)

During her visit to Luxembourg, Ms Florika Fink-Hooijer, the newly appointed Director-General of DG HERA (the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority) at the European Commission, visited the National Crisis Centre in Senningen.

This provided an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with relevant national authorities, including the High Commission for National Protection, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Health Directorate, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), and the Defence Directorate. The discussions covered the European Commission's priorities for the period 2024–2029 in health crisis preparedness and management. Ms Fink-Hooijer emphasised the ongoing efforts to bolster the resilience of Member States to crises while respecting their national particularities.

The High Commissioner for National Protection, Guy Bley, emphasised that this strategic exchange reaffirms Luxembourg's commitment to promoting a culture of crisis prevention, anticipation, and management in close cooperation with its European partners.

During their visit to the National Crisis Centre, participants were given an overview of the tasks and responsibilities of the HCPN, which operates under the authority of the Ministry of State. The HCPN plays a pivotal role in the implementation of national protection, coordinating all activities related to crisis anticipation, prevention, and management to safeguard the country and its population.
