Warning the population

In a nuclear emergency, the population is alerted by an alarm signal triggered by the Emergency Call Centre (112).

To avoid confusion with the 'fire alarm', which is a continuous tone lasting three minutes, the 'nuclear alarm' is made up of three types of signals:

the standby signal

Which is triggered when radioactive contamination is possible in one or several areas, but not yet imminent. The signal is a warbling tone lasting one minute.
