Extreme weather in the southern part of the Grand Duchy - situation at 7 p.m. on Monday
After a third visit by Minister of the Interior Taina Bofferding to the municipalities of Pétange and Käerjeng, the Government's Crisis Cell met again at 6 p.m., with the Minister on the chair and in the presence of Mayor Pierre Mellina and Alderman Frank Pirrotte, to take stock of the situation and decide on action still to be taken in the coming hours and days.
The presence this morning of more than 80 volunteers from Germany's Technisches Hilfswerk in support of the action being carried out by the Luxembourg authorities has made it possible to keep up a steady pace with spreading tarpaulins and sealing roofs, despite the added complication of rain showers.
Since MeteoLux is still forecasting the possibility of thunderstorms during the evening, the public is advised to keep an eye on the weather conditions and if necessary adopt the suitable behaviour indicated on the www.meteolux.lu website.
Traffic conditions are still difficult in and near the streets where work is still being carried out.
The Crisis Cell is continuing to keep a close eye on the evolution of the situation.
