Press release
The severe weather risk assessment unit (CERI) met again on the morning of Wednesday 2 July 2025 to review the latest weather developments. The developments announced yesterday have been confirmed: maximum temperatures will reach the forecast values between 12:00 and 20:00, with peaks of between 35 and 38 degrees observed mainly in the south of the country, in urban areas and along the Moselle. As a result, the CERI is reminding everyone to remain vigilant and is reiterating its recommendations to the population in order to limit the risks associated with the heat. As a reminder, the recommended behaviour to adopt is available on the following websites: www.infocrise.lu ; www.lu-alert.lu
MeteoLux forecasts for today also indicate that there is a risk of thunderstorms between late afternoon and early evening. In the event of a thunderstorm, strong gusts of wind may occur, reaching up to 90 km/h locally. These conditions, linked to the passage of a cold front, will cause the air to cool, bringing temperatures back to normal seasonal values.
In view of the expected gradual improvement in conditions, the CERI does not plan to hold any further meetings. However, the situation will continue to be monitored closely by the relevant services.
