Coordinating the energy policy
The Ministry of the Economy coordinates the country's energy policy by means of the Directorate General for Energy.
The government's energy policy has three main aims:
- to maintain and reinforce the security of the supply
Luxembourg is mainly dependent for its energy supply: almost all energy is provided via imports. In order to guarantee energy supplies and avoid too great a geographical dependence, the government is working to diversify energy supply sources.
- to ensure competitive energy prices
The government strives to ensure competitive energy prices for all economic stakeholders.
- to ensure a sustainable energy supply
The government is working to support the development of domestic renewable energy supplies. In addition, it aims to promote energy efficiency and energy savings.
