Cyber Risk Assessment Cell (CERC) meeting (05.08.2025)

Following a network incident affecting telecommunications operator Proximus Luxembourg, the Cyber Risk Assessment Cell (CERC) convened to assess the impact and determine appropriate follow-up measures.

Proximus Luxembourg confirmed that the disruption was caused by a hardware failure in a network switching device. All services have since been fully restored. The operator has officially ruled out any cyberattack as the cause of the incident.

The issue occurred at 5:20 a.m. and was resolved by 9:34 a.m. During this time, network disruptions were observed, and some Proximus Luxembourg customers may have experienced difficulties reaching emergency services via 112 and 113. However, it is important to note that both emergency numbers—112 (CGDIS) and 113 (Police)—remained operational throughout the incident.

Participants in the CERC meeting included: HCPN, ILR, CSSF, CTIE, LHC, CGDIS, Police grand-ducale, SRE, Armée luxembourgeoise, Direction de la défense, Proximus Luxembourg
